My Personal Information

My name is Héctor M. Colón Ramos and I was born the fourth of a family of six in a little town named Vega Alta, Puerto Rico (PR). When I was one year old my family moved to another nearby town called Dorado, PR. I spent my childhood in a country-house surrounded by all kinds of fruit trees and a river going by the East Side. I attended the Elementary School at Jacinto López Martínez School at Dorado, PR and graduated from sixth grade. At this site I had a beautiful childhood playing baseball, basketball, climbing up trees to get fruits, bicycling, fishing crabs, swimming and fishing in Río Grande de la Plata (La Plata River). Also, I enjoyed practicing some track events like throwing weight, high jump, running short distances, pole vault, and others. Since my childhood I had a special attraction towards sports even though I was not an outstanding athlete. The fun I derived from all these early years is worth a fortune. From this adorable town we moved Toa Baja, PR for about 2 years and from here to Arecibo, PR where I finished my secondary school at the Jefferson Intermediate School. I started my High School at Arecibo, PR but finally we ended at Río Piedras, PR where I completed my high school at Ramón Vila Mayo High School. I decided then to go to the Engineering College at Mayagüez, PR where I studied civil engineering after discharging from the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. I married the love of my life, María Luisa. We had 5 children, all married and almost 10 grandchildren. I was hired by the US Geological Survey and had a conversion to work as a Hydrologist and I retired after 32 years of federal services. Actually, I live in Bayamón, PR. and  my hobby is to surf the Internet and read about any topic that is of interest to me:  like news, sports, entertainment, music, etc... My main language is Spanish but I can manage to write and speak English somehow.

I welcome my (HTML 4, Part 2) classmates to our Web page and together share this knowledge and look forward to approach the new century flourishing with new ideas and the advancements in this technology. Do not hesitate to know more about Puerto Rico and myself. So, I grew up both in the midst of the flourishing agriculture and then the industrial development in the island. Add to this the fact that both my parents were "My father, a payroll clerk and later an administrator of the sugar-cane fields and my mother a house wife were born also in Vega Alta". They were something special to me and missed them very much.

Classmates are welcome to interchange ideas and try to enrich our knowledge. As the new century approaches us let's try to keep up with the advacenments made on the Internet. So, let's share our resources and try to change this world somehow.

Thanks to read to read my personal information and welcome to my page.
